Rural workers and businesses in Bengal often operate outside formal systems, lacking structured income, digital identity, and visible growth. SEVA addresses this gap by enabling formal income opportunities across commerce, services, and skill based work. The platform allows rural artisans and gig workers to list products and services, receive direct payments, and access grievance redressal, all backed by the government.

Our Approach

We were instrumental in transforming SEVA by developing its technology infrastructure and enhancing the app design and functionality. Our approach focused on providing a seamless user experience while improving operational efficiency.

We designed a user friendly mobile app that allows Self Help Groups (SHGs), artisans, and gig workers to easily access the platform. The app provides quick access to payments, services, and grievances, ensuring a smooth and intuitive user experience for all.

Our team built and maintained the platform’s architecture to ensure that it was scalable, secure, and capable of handling real time transactions. Key features include QR based payments, vendor onboarding, and transaction tracking, all of which play a critical role in making SEVA a reliable and efficient platform. The design of the app reflects the ethos of trust, dignity, and government backed security. We ensured that the interface is visually appealing, while remaining functional and accessible to users with varying levels of digital literacy.

In addition to tech infrastructure, we focused on streamlining operations and logistics to ensure the timely delivery of products and services. Products delivered through SEVA are managed by our trained delivery associates, and every delivery is tracked by our operation team. Real time tracking ensures that deliveries are accurate and timely, improving service quality and reducing errors.

To ensure vendors and SHGs could use the platform effectively, we facilitated onboarding and training. This ensured that, from day one, users were equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the platform with ease and maximize its potential.

The Result

SEVA connects the State’s strengths in SHGs, skilling, and digital governance into one cohesive, rural first platform. By replacing high commission private market places with a commission free, government owned alternative, it creates formal income pathways, strengthens trust in digital systems, and gives departments the data they need to support workers at scale.

For Bengal’s rural entrepreneurs, artisans, and gig workers, SEVA isn’t just another app, it’s a doorway into dignified, visible, and protected livelihoods under the State’s own digital roof.
